Thank you for taking the time to review our website and take in all the valuable information that it has to offer. We will be updating it on a regular basis so please check back frequently for the latest information and news about Del Rey and the Victor Elementary School District.
The one question I get most often from parents is “How do I help my child be more successful in school”. There are several ways that you can help your child at Del Rey. The first, and perhaps most important is to get involved in the school. Come to the monthly “Donuts with Doug” meetings to hear about what is happening at the school and get updates on what is to come. This time is dedicated to parents and their questions.
Join the Del Rey Booster club and help plan exciting activities and events for Del Rey students and families. Become an active member of School Site Council or English Language Advisory Committee so you can lend your voice and help make a variety of decisions about the school and what priorities need to be addressed each.
And finally, become a volunteer at the school or in your child’s classroom. Research is clear that the more you become involved in the school the more succession your children will be at school.
At Del Rey, we welcome parents on campus each and every day. Volunteer training takes place monthly after the “Donuts with Doug” or can be scheduled with our School Safety Coordination on an as needed basis.
Thank you for allowing us to work with and educate your child. There is not greater responsibility than the shaping of the minds of tomorrow. We take that responsibility very seriously at Del Rey and work hard to make every child successful… Del Rey is a great place to be and learn.

Our Focus
Del Rey’s school-wide focus is AVID. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that promotes success in school and prepares them for college and career. AVID is not a program or a book that can be read but a philosophy shared by all staff member that all students can and will succeed at high levels each and every day. Every teacher is an AVID trained teacher; every classroom is and AVID classroom; every student, TK – 6th grade, is an AVID student.
The Four Components of AVID Are:
Student Success Skills – encompassing communication skills (Listening, speaking, writing), self-advocacy skills, note-taking strategies, critical thinking and study skill
Organizational Skills – Both mental and physical; students learn to use organizational tools, as well as learn and practice skill around time management and goal-setting.
WICOR lessons – emphasize instruction on writing to learn, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and ready to learn in all content areas
Partnerships – Among students, classrooms, grade levels, schools, feeder patterns, families, and communities.
If you were to walk the classrooms of Del Rey you would see the teacher implementing the core components almost on a daily basis. Students who attend Del Rey can expect to leave the school with all the tools and skills to be successful in a global society.
